Life is a process of continuous changes. From birth to death, we undergo many changes in our lives, including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, behavioral and many more.
In this blog, I am discussing the stages of change to understand the importance of changes in our lives.
The initial stage of change is known as the "pre-contemplation" stage. During this stage, one does not feel or believe they need to change their life. It is like a state of unawareness where one is unaware of the need for change. Hence, nothing can be done or said at this stage.
The "contemplation" stage is a period in a person's life when they feel that they need to make change, but are unsure about what those changes should be. Whether it is related to their personal development, career, relationships, or any other aspect of their life, the person is undecided and ambivalent, but they are considering change.
The "preparation" stage comes next, during which the person begins to prepare themself for the change. They weigh the pros and cons of the change and gather information about the changes they are likely to adopt.
Following the preparation stage, the individual moves on to the "action" stage, where they start implementing the new activities or behavior, and change.
During the "maintenance" stage, the individual creates new habits and incorporates the change into their daily routine.
Finally, "termination" or "relapse" refers to a situation where a person resumes an old unwanted behavior, or thinks about reverting to their previous behavior.
